With UFC 243 taking place this weekend in Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium, the Victorian capital remains culturally relevant in the eyes of the rest of the nation for one week longer than usual.

With the AFL Grand Final in the rear view, the city now looks to host a bloodbath in the shape of Robert Whittaker vs Israel Adesanya.

For one more weekend in 2019, Australia will tune in to watch a Melbourne-based sporting event.

This time with actual Greater Wester Sydney Giants, and not just a handful of Melbourne and Perth boys who live in Bondi and train in Homebush.

Whittaker, an icon of Greater Western Sydney is tipped as the favourite, unlike his hometown’s AFL franchise, or any of their 7 NRL teams that didn’t make it past the semi-finals this year.

The heavyweight undercard will feature the original UFC eshay Tai Tuivasa welcoming Sergey Spivak to Australia for his second fight.

Every fighter this weekend is tipped to walk out to OneFour.

It is believed Crown Casino and Revolvers have since hired Western Sydney liaison officers (HP Boyz) to help manage the fighter’s entourages upon conclusion of the bloodbath.
