Melbourne Lockdown Enters Critical Punishment Phase

As the World Health Organisation revises their lockdown advice this week, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews announced today that Melbourne’s lockdown has now entered the critical punishment phase.

The punishment phase is critical because without it, says Andrews, people in Melbourne are at danger of becoming complacent moving forward.

“This phase of our recovery involves punishing Victorians for the second wave and letting him know that if there’s a third, the lockdown will be even worse,” said Andrews.

“As the inquiry into hotel quarantine has found, it was the people of Melbourne who are responsible for the deadly second wave, not the government,”

“And as their government, it is our duty to punish the people accordingly. These next few weeks are crucial because it will teach Victorians to not be so complacent.”

More to come.
