From the outside, Kaite Wilson, appeared to be the epitome of centred calm as she meditated on the sand at Betoota’s surf beach. However, beneath her serene exterior a far more sinister vision was brewing.

Speaking with The Advocate mere minutes after her 10-minute guided meditation track finished, Kaite explained the dark road her mind wandered down.

“The track tells me to catch my thoughts as soon as they appear, and I usually can… but I just can’t resist letting the reins loose on this one”

“I mean, like, isn’t it better to have a plan ready to go should I ever stumble across a severed hand sticking out of the sand?”

Kaite is referring to the somewhat intrusive thought of finding a dead body. A thought that pops into her mind at least four times a week, sometimes more.

“It’s not always a hand sticking out of the sand. A body could be wrapped in a heavy woollen blanket and dumped on the side of the road, or someone could be slumped over ‘asleep’ on the bus.”

The homicide rate in Australia is 0.87 per 100,000 people, and even less in Betoota, so the chances of Kaite needing to put her vigilante visions into action is not likely.

“But, if I ever find myself faced with one of these vicious felonies, I’ll know exactly what to do. Dun dun.”

More to come.
