Man’s Weekend Yard Work Delayed Again As AO And Winter Olympics Blends Into Opening Round Of Super Rugby

A local man's plans to get some backyard chores done before the rain comes down have blown out again today.

After a jam-packed new year, local man Jonah Wellington (30) says February usually feels like way more of a sports drought. But not 2026.

"I've gotten the tail end of the Ashes, straight into the Australian Open, and then straight into the Winter Olympics," he says.

"Are you aware we just won fucking gold at the Winter Olympics?"

But despite all the Australian and Spanish sporting glory, this doesn't change the fact that Jonah's backyard is starting to look like a deceased estate.

His wife, Ella (30) says Jonah had initially been a big supporter of the idea that the domestic load gets divided up into yard/house. As a man of the great outdoors - he obviously put his hand up to handle each and every duty that their 100 square metre backyard asked of them.

"It's at the point now when I don't think the whipper snipper will have much luck. It's turning into bushlands."

"And I know he wants to get out there and tame it, but he's just in a daze of sporting excellence."

Jonah says he can see a window opening up in the near future, it's just hard because Stan Sport has been hitting him with the promos for the Tahs v Reds, and obviously with all the drama in the news about punch-ons at training and whatever, he can’t really miss this one.

"Not to mention it's Queensland versus New South Wales. Can't miss that," he says.

"But I reckon I'll be able to get stuck into it in the morning, just gotta make sure I'm down before the islanders kick off at 2:35pm."
