French Quarter man Daniel Barbieri returned home with a long face this evening after none of his friends so much as looked twice at this new time piece, let alone asked to try it on.
The financier, who bought the Rolex Submariner to celebrate his first ten-bagger, and definitely not to fulfil some void created by a lack of something else, explained to The Advocate that he thought the whole point of getting a Rolex was so that “people looked at it”.
“Maybe my sleeves covered it too much..” questioned a forlorn Barbieri.
According to his friends, though, the watch was not covered at all. In fact, it was on such obvious display that it became an unspoken agreement amongst the friends to do everything in their power to pretend it didn’t exist.
“It was actually pretty difficult to ignore it. He kept trying to steer conversation towards it”
“It was so sad. And desperate.” said a friend who wished to remain anonymous.
At the time of press, Barbieri turned to his digital friends for some validation, by posting a photo of his hand holding the car steering wheel with the caption “go time”.
