Man has jaw broken after eating banana with mouth open

A ROUTINE FLIGHT between Sydney and Melbourne was interrupted this morning by a fracas said to have been sparked by a man eating a banana with his mouth open.

The Tiger Airlines Airbus was diverted to Canberra and the man who allegedly threw the punch was taken off the plane by waiting Federal Police officers. With multiple injuries, the victim was also rushed to a nearby hospital and is currently listed as being in a stable condition.

While both police and airline officials agree that eating a banana with your mouth open is “fucking gross”, it doesn’t stand as reason to commit a vicious assault.

“The man was taken to hospital after sustaining facial lacerations and a suspected broken jaw,” said AFP Officer Glenn Frogboy. “Personally, I would’ve smacked the bloke myself but I wouldn’t have hurt him but.”

Facing charges of grievous bodily harm, common assault and public urination, the man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, will face a Canberra court either this afternoon or tomorrow.
