A bogong moth enjoyer from one of our nation's lesser states down south has made it clear that he has a deep respect for the endangered native night-flyer, but he's jack of them surrounding him and agrees it's time for them to keep moving.
Speaking to The Advocate today via payphone, Katoomba vagrant Paul Scullen said the moths are lovely and he likes them, but due to him being out at night quite a lot and under lights, they are getting too much.
"It's time for the bogong moth to fuck off!" he said.
"I like them and they are nice, but there are just too many of them. They are everywhere. They get in my hair, all through my things. You'd think they weren't endangered, wouldn't you?"
"And I think more people than you think, I think they don't actually enjoy moths at all. When you think about it, they're just like the Calais or Fairlane of flies. Are they related to flies? Probably. And I think the name causes more trouble than most people think."
Paul then recalled an interaction he had with a tourist on Katoomba's main drag over the long weekend, where he lashed out at a bogong moth that'd gotten into his box of pizza Shapes.
"I said, 'You fucking bogong!' and this shoeless gentleman getting out of a rooted Ford Territory turned around and said, 'Who are you calling a bogan?!' and there was a period of unpleasantness afterwards. You see? These moths need to keep on moving. They're ripping Katoomba apart."
More to come.
