Long Weekend Gives City Boy The Chance To Take His Salomons Out For First Off-Road Experience

An interior designer from the big smoke is gearing up for an adventurous weekend, as he eyes the chance to take his all-terrain sneakers out of the concrete jungle.

Sitting in the backseat of his mate’s Mazda CX-7, 32 year old design specialist Charlie Stewart is giddy with glee, as he sets off to Orange for what he keeps calling, “an off-the-grid roadtrip”.

As a bloke who hangs in the inner-west of Sydney, in between designing co-working spaces for big corporate banks, Charlie is the kind of guy that’s fallen head first into gorpcore, and dressing like he’s about to free climb Mt Barney whenever he heads into his air conditioned city office.

But with a long weekend lapping at his recently manicured toes, Charlie has reportedly said yes to joining a bunch of other Arc'teryx beanie wearing friends to stay at a cosy Airbnb over the Easter break.

Wearing a pair of cream coloured Salomon XT-6s, which have only ever touched grass whenever he takes his Japanese Spitz “Yuki” to the park to take a shit, Charlie has told his mates he’s ready to get off the beaten track, and explore some nice book shops and maybe a candle store.

“So excited to get away, feel like I’ve been stuck in the city all year,” Charlie said to his mates, who were all glued to their phones researching best wineries to visit in Orange.

“I brought my Salomons, cos it looked like the walking trail down to that outdoor bath tub might get a bit rocky.”

“This Airbnb looks mad though, do you think they will have the fire going or will we have to go out and collect some sticks when we get there? I’m prepared either way.”

More to come.
