A local Betoota Grove woman is striving to stay out of drama as much as the Sultanate Of Oman.
The Gulf Nation which managed to stay relatively neutral on the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s, Iran's proxy war with Saudi Arabia, the Israel conflict, Somalia's never ending civil war and the Syrian civil war, all while bordering both sides of the Saudi-Houthi war, has been a huge inspiration for Jessica Fowley (27).
"It's just amazing how Sultan Qaboos bin Said was able to resist getting sucked into any of the drama, he really was protecting his peace" she explained.
Friends say Jess has recently begun adopting the phrase "being spiritually Omani" when dealing with arguments in her social circle.
“If two people start fighting in the group chat, I simply acknowledge both sides, say something diplomatic like ‘interesting perspectives here’, and then quietly mute the conversation” she explained.
According to Jessica, the strategy is about maintaining open relations with everyone involved while committing to absolutely nothing.
“I’ll still grab brunch with both sides, obviously. I’m not going to sanction anyone.”
Observers say the 27-year-old has become so committed to neutrality that she has even begun hosting low level peace talks between friends who refuse to speak to each other.
“These are purely informal discussions held over wine” she clarified.
Jessica was reportedly considering opening back channel negotiations between two friends arguing about whose turn it was to pay for Uber.
