A local woman has just been reminded how grateful she is that we are out of the food trend of trendy burger places shoving cheese filled syringes into their burgers.

"Yeah, really happy they stopped doing that" said Zoe Linh (28), while scrolling through her old facebook photos.

The cheese syringe was part of a constellation of over the top burger add ons during the maximalist era of burger culture in the 2010s.

It was a time when every new place felt like it had to outdo the last by inserting, stacking or deep frying something that absolutely did not need to be there.

"Donut buns, cheese syringes, choclate dipped bacon bits, it truly was a race to the bottom" explained Zoe.

"The more outrages, the more hype back then, we've come a long way" she reflected as she scrolled her phone looking at the Uber Eats app and a litany of 2025 era minimalist, smashed burger restaurants.

"At least now the burgers are actually edible" she said, adding that she prefers the current wave of simple ingredients, flat patties and normal.

Zoe says she hopes the industry never forgets the dark period when burgers needed medical equipment to be considered cool.
