Tim Barton, a recent graduate of Betoota University, has enrolled in his honours year after 20 clicks of LinkedIn’s quick apply feature returned nothing.
“No interviews, not even a call back,” the 21 year old said.
The decision came after Tim joined his mates for a couple schooners down at the local RSL on Friday evening.
“None of the boys have managed to secure anything yet, either, so my mate Greggo said he was just going to do another year,”
“At first we were all taking the piss out of him, but then he said how if he does, he can stay on ceno for another year,”
“I went straight home and filled out a QTAC form,” he said.
Tim graduated from Betoota Ponds Memorial High in 2022 and entered straight into a Bachelor of Business.
“It was either that or take off for a Euro summer, and I couldn't really afford that,” he said.
Tim hadn't had any formal employment until last summer when his younger sister Jess put in a good word for him at the local IGA, scoring him a role as the store's hottest new check out boy.
As for his plans post graduation, Tim assures The Advocate he doesn’t need to think about that just yet.
“Once I’ve done this honours year, I reckon jobs will just end up reaching out to me,”
“Still keen on a Euro summer, too. Or I’ll just start up my own business. There’s these blokes on Instagram who say I can make a hundred grand a year from my phone,”
