Year 3 student Riley Saunders secretly became the most popular kid at Betoota Primary after copping an invite to Joshua Khan’s sleepover last Friday.
While most students in Riley’s class received the standard 1 day only invite to Joshua’s 8th birthday at the popular trampoline park, Bounce, Riley received something a little extra.
The week prior to the event of the term, Riley’s mother, Sam got a text from Joshua’s mother, Mirai.
“It’s what any mother wishes for, that sign that your kid isn’t a complete freak” Sam shared to the Advocate.
Riley had been invited to a top secret sleepover after Bounce for only Joshua’s closest friends.
“Before school I sat him down and told him the good news, he was thrilled, I mean we both were, finally a night to myself so I can catch up on The Pitt!”
After two stressful hours of twenty kids bouncing around a giant trampoline park, it was time for the real mission to take place. Joshua’s mother, Mirai, had some serious concerns.
“It’s all about timings with the sleepovers, you can’t have any of the other parents suspecting there’s a sleepover otherwise they’ll text you all passive aggressively saying it promotes exclusivity.”
“As all the kids got picked up, we kind of had to make it look like the best friends had bad parents who were running late"
Joshua and Riley and the two other boys invited to the sleepover, had a wonderful night of dino nuggets and ice cream, followed by a living room screening of Kung Fu Panda 4. The night was running perfectly, little Riley’s first sleepover was a hit until it all went terribly wrong after bed time.
“Yeah Mirai called me, Riley had done a vommy in the sleeping bag. All the kids had to get picked up” Sam told our reporter.
“I had 10 minutes of The Pitt left, I guess Dr Robby will have to wait.”
