The limping Federal Opposition is in turmoil today, as the uptown toffs from the Liberal Party refuse to accept the fact that their status within the Coalition has sunk significantly.

The Nationals, had already made it clear that they were expecting increased responsibilities in the shadow frontbench – after it became clear that they had a much better result at the Federal Election than the Liberal Party did.

With Labor’s Albanese storming to pick up over 90 seats on Saturday night, the Coalition has so far only secured 40 – and they wouldn’t have even gotten this many if it weren’t for the 15 that were won by Nationals and LNP candidates.

With nearly half the coalition no longer claiming to be Liberals, the power shifts within the Coalition have been causing great turbulence amongst the battered Opposition MPs.

As they braces for another three years in opposition with not even a quarter of the lower house to their name, the finger-pointing and leadership challenges show a political movement is complete disarray.

The Liberals must now decide if they want to win back female voters by implementing gender quotas, or perhaps electing a female leader. Meanwhile, the Nationals say they need to be doing exactly what they’ve been doing because it hasn’t hurt them one bit.

These frictions appeared to have had petrol poured over them last night, after it became public that one of the Nats had jumped ship to join the race for Liberal Party leadersghip.

Nats leader David Littleproud, says he is “disappointed” that Jacinta Price has defected to the Liberal party room, and says he can’t believe that the former Alice Springs RnB singer would betray the random old men that got her into Parliament.

The Northern Territory Country Liberal senator and shadow Indigenous affairs minister had chosen to sit in the Nationals party room since being elected to the federal parliament in 2022.

Now it seems that she will do almost anything if it means she gets to spend more time on TV – as was evident during those painful 6 months she spent as the face of the No Campaign

The Nats are now taking to the media to accuse Price of betrayal, as rumours swirl that shadow Treasurer Angus Taylor had recruited her to ditch her old party with the promise of becoming his deputy.

It is not yet known if Jacinta Price is actually a talented politician, but it’s clear that the Liberals really do believe that sinking the Indigenous Voice Referendum was their greatest political achievement in decades.
