While the Fremantle Dockers might be the Cinderella Story of the 2026 AFL Grand Final - the Brisbane Lions are indeed the bad boys, it has been confirmed.

This comes as the AFL clears Lachie Neale to play in the grand final - after winning the appeal against his one-week suspension.

Brisbane have since named him in their team to face Fremantle at the MCG on Saturday.

After winning his appeal Neale spoke to the media where he thanked his club and those involved in overturning his suspension for effectively punching a bloke in the guts while he was off the ball.

The midfielder’s exemplary ON-FIELD record was taken into account during the decision making process, with the Appeals Board determining there were “exceptional and compelling” circumstances to overturn the suspension.

His off-field behaviour was not taken into account, because if it was up to the nation's scorned women then this bloke would be serving 100 years in Arthur Gorrie Supermax for his fuckboy behaviour.

The decision also seems to iron over that whole mid-season kerfuffle where Lachie Neale was seen to be shopping himself around to other clubs for a better pay day. Absolutely unhinged behavior that would have resulted in almost immediate sacking if he wasn't so fucking good at football.

And now, after a week of telling the media that he effectively doesn't give a shit whether he even plays in the Grand Final, the half-mad 33-year-old has been cleared to play. He has since said thanks for that, but yeah, he wasn't too fussed either way.

To add even more drama to this tabloid fiesta, Lachie Neale will be playing against his old club, who have never won a grand final before, and now carry the hopes and dreams of a fanatical town in Western Australia full of people who hate Lachie Neale on a personal level due to his very publicly publicised moral shortcomings.

In scenes that mirror the Lions fanbase cuddling poor old Brendan Fevola after his chaotic Brownlows bender, an entire state of equally unhinged Queenslanders are now right behind their adopted son, Lachie Neale.
