Despite two record-breaking petitions being ignored by the Queensland Government, Katter's Australian Party has continued to to push for their 'Castle Law' to be voted on in state Parliament.
This has caused the maverick minor party to today use an unconventional metaphor, with their party leaders directly referencing the popular 1990 children's Christmas movie Home Alone.
"Ya know, that young fella from Chicago, Kevin McCallister, he did well to defend the family home while his yuppie parents were hoity-toitying around the world in business class" said Bob Katter MP.
"From the blowtorch to the head, to setting up traps with Christmas decorations on bare feet. The kid did what he had to do to keep the crooks at bay"
"Unfortunately, in this country, Kevin McCallister would be sent to prison for such bravery"
The Katters' proposed Castle Law would allow homeowners to use potentially deadly force “to protect themselves and their premises" from home intruders by any means necessary.
However, even with a right-wing LNP government that claims to be tough on crime, the Katters still cannot seem to get their fellow MPs to take it seriously.
"It's bloody ridiculous." says Bob's son and state MP, Robbie Katter MP.
"This is a government that rewards the Wet Bandits and punishes Kevin."
"He could do years in prison for slingshotting cans of paint into their faces from the top of the staircase... Even if that's what any normal person would do when met with violent criminals inside their family home"
The Katters says that this cherished children's movie actually highlights much greater problems with Queensland's nanny state.
"Don't get me started on our firearm laws." says Bob Katter.
"The McCallister family home would probably get raided if they knew their was a loaded BB gun on the premises"
