In culture and arts news, Channel 9 have made a brave sidestep away from their usual sports heavy scheduling this evening to broadcast the live creation of high renaissance art.

This story comes as the Wide World of Sports hands the 8th immortal Andrew Johns an iPad and smart pen, and livestreams him painting a rugby league masterpiece on their smartboard.

With State of Origin getting beamed to all corners of the globe tonight, Channel 9 execs have reportedly handed Joey the keys to all in-play analysis, allowing Rugby League dribblers rare access into the mind of the greatest to ever do it.

Standing in front of a 98” inch tv screen, Joey Johns has lit up the screen with a sequence of lines, squiggles and circles as he dissects the play.

“So watch Cleary here identifying Sammy Walker as the spot defender, and he’s going to have Hudson Young running a hard line at the gap,” explained Johns, as he drew a hot blue stroke through Maroons debutant.

“Now Capewell will also drift, so the inside ball to Teddy is an option, but the real play is getting Robert Toia interested, to open up the space for Kotoni Staggs and Koula…”.

“They’ve been setting this up all night.”

Speaking to a cameraman live in the studio, it’s understood everyone on the broadcast team at Nine are standing in silence as they take in the privilege of witnessing such rare and raw artistic talent.

“We’ve got an office sweepstakes running to decide who gets to take home a screenshot of the TV screen" cameraman Gordon Cronk told The Advocate.

"Talk about iconic, you could sell this at Sotheby’s and break $10 million easy,”

“This masterpiece is up there with McCubbin’s ‘Down on His Luck’ or Sidney Nolan’s Ned Kelly paintings"

"The way Joey strikes those hard lines through the Queenslanders, it’s like the Newcastle version of Pollock’s ‘Blue Poles’.”
