An international student from Malaysia currently living in a two-bedroom apartment with eight other international students has come out and admitted that he lives like this by choice and that he's secretly buying up other apartments just to fuck with Australians.

Speaking from the bottom bunk of a room he shares with three other blokes, 22 year old engineering student Sayid said the cramped living arrangement was all part of a long-term plan to personally destroy the Australian dream.

"Yeah, I actually love paying $250 a week to sleep four metres from the kitchen in a space that used to be some sort of office," he said.

"It's all worth it when I imagine some guy in Penrith blaming me because a fibro house now costs $1.2 million."

Sayid also confirmed he spends his evenings browsing Domain and purchasing properties between Uber Eats deliveries.

"I own 14 apartments now," he said, before asking his roommate if he could borrow $20 until payday.

Local property experts say Sayid is just one of thousands of international students who have somehow managed to corner the housing market despite earning dodgey wages, paying enormous tuition fees and routinely living in conditions Australians would describe as a 3rd world.

Asked whether decades of tax breaks, restricted housing supply, speculative investment and the rich treating property as a retirement strategy might have played a role, Sayid rejected the claims.

"Nah it's me this has been our plan all along."

Sayid was unavailable for further comment because it was his turn to sleep on the floor.
