UPHOLDING THE TEACHINGS of Christ and praising His moral standards on high has been at the core of Scott Morrison for his entire life.

Hearing his political allies and opponents snigger behind his back as he strode through the corridors of Parliament House slowly chipped away at him.

He tossed and turned every night wondering what News Corp would write about him next. That it was difficult for him to talk to women as a teenager? That he’d rather a budget please Him first and the Australian people second?

It seems putting Jesus first in Canberra can put you in the crosshairs of public opinion.

His story, which none of you will ever understand, has drawn parallels to that of Penny Wong. The constant religious persecution he’s faced in Canberra is similar to the obstacles that society keep throwing in front of members of our LGBTI community.

“Being an openly Christian politician is harder than being gay in Canberra,” he said.

“When parliament isn’t sitting, the gays can just go home to where it’s safe and people high-five them for being so brave and shit. But when you’re the Treasurer like me, you have to stay here much more and go to places where they hate Christians,”

“I don’t get why society thinks it’s OK to turn their back on Him while they praise homosexuality on high? I was born to praise Jesus, just like how gay people say they were born gay, or something. Is that what they say?”

The Advocate reached out to Penny Wong’s office and the Hillsong Church for comment but has yet to receive a reply.
