Founders of OpenBio, a groundbreaking biotech startup that have managed to do something incredible with gene expression and potentially change the future landscape of biology as we know it, have been given a lukewarm reception at this afternoon’s Genetics Summit after failing to explicitly state the company is flipping the biotech category on its head.

Despite being the first modern company to legitimately warrant a claim of flipping a category on its head, the founders refused to call out such cliches and it’s clear that it’s costing them.

“I’m not following .. so your new tech is just regular new biotech, it’s not like it’s never been done before?” Asked one potential investor during question time following OpenBio’s presentation.

“No, that’s exactly what this is. We will revolutionise mRNA drugs as we know it. And now is your chance to be a part of that future.” Responds one of the founders.

“Mm.. I’m not so sure.” Replied the potential investor.

The founder then engaged in an appropriately spectrum-y discussion.

“What aren’t you sure about? No one has ever [redacted] like us before. We will be able to prevent disease from occurring like we’re turning off a light switch. What is not revolutionary about that?”

“We are looking for something that’s going flip the biotech category on its head”

“Well yeah of course we will”

“Well why aren’t you saying it will?”

“Because it’s lame”

“If you’re not confident enough to say you’re flipping a category on its head then I’m afraid we can’t confidently invest”

It’s believed the founder was left dumbfounded and walked out of the room shaking his head.

While OpenBio didn’t secure the $100m they were hoping for, another company did. Ai Ai Capitano, an apparently ‘first of its kind’ Ai company managed to secure $150m from investors, despite having no existing product.
