“I Could See Us Living Here" Says Inner-City Mum 12 Hours Into Countryside Airbnb Stay

After nearly twenty years in Betoota's bohemian inner-city French Quarter, a young mum has today decided that she could actually see herself living somewhere else.

This comes after less than one calendar day spent weekending in a countryside Airbnb with her family. Far away from the Victorian terrace houses and occasional police chases that make her city life seem so exciting and chic, Gab Mercer (34) says she finally gets it.

It's the fresh afternoon wind coming through the trees that appears to have got her over the line.

That, paired with the sedating smell of a crackling fire pit, and watching her husband and the kids make pancakes like precious angels in one of those cottage kitchens.

"I mean. It's only an hour or so from the city" she says.

"So realistically, we could commute. Or we could, I dunno, open a shop"

Even as someone who has literally zero experience working in the retail space, and actually has a job that she can do from a laptop in a countryside weekender, Gab still dreams about spending her days behind the counter of a regional General Store, like Bryan Brown's daughter on Instagram.

With her husband campaigning for this kind of tree-change for many years, and the kids young enough to be transplanted to a local country school - Gab is now well and truly flirting with the idea.

"Maybe I could get a landline put in. Just ABC radio and a gas stove for tea. I could really see us living here"

However, by the time she gets back to the city, she'll be thinking maybe it's better for the kids to enjoy the best of both worlds, until the next weekending adventure - which will likely result in Gab discovering a new town she could see herself living in.
