Coalition Dusts Themselves Off And Begins Rebuilding A New Party Around Their Core Talent

The Liberal Party has vowed to not sook over the 2025 Federal Election result, and are wasting no time licking their wounds after suffering a generational flogging at the hands of Albanese on Saturday night.

Instead, they are dusting themselves and now focusing on a rebuild that many in the party say should’ve happened much earlier.

With 14 seats still in doubt, Labor has than doubled the Coalition’s numbers in the lower house with 88 confirmed seats.

This is vastly more than anyone could have predicted, given the media spent the last few months hamming up the possibility of a minority Labor Government.

But with Labor clawing back up to four Greens seats, and the once loyal outer-suburban Liberal strongholds jumping ship to Albo – this was certainly not the case.

Prime Minister Albanese only needed 76 seats to form government. He currently looks like he will surpass 90. The Coalition will be lucky to pick up 40 at this point.

However, while it does look like the Coalition has almost been destroyed by this election result – there is still optimism about the future.

And with the Liberals lucky to retain a number of future leaders, all eyes are now turning on to the new core of talent that remains.

Namely, the 57-year-old Member for Wright. Scott Buchholz MP. Based out of the ‘gooch of Queensland’ that exists between Ipswich and Toowoomba – the former chief of staff to Barnaby Joyce has been waiting fifteen years for a promotion from the backbench.

Or who could look past the 56-year-old Andrew Willcox MP from Mackay. As a former regional councillor and tomato farmer, The Member for Dawson has picked up where his predecessor George Christensen left off with great gusto. Could this be the man that leads the Coalition to a landslide victory in 2025?

But lets not forget some of the younger talent coming through. 36-year-old Ben Small from Western Australia’s Margaret River has proven that this is not just a country for old men – after finally fending off all the hopeful female Liberal candidates and winning pre-selection for the safe seat of Forrest.

This is just a small sample of the 38 extremely talented MPs that could very well redefine the Liberal Party as we know it.

There’s no need for soul-searching. Now is the time to consolidate and rebuild.
