A worryingly overweight bachelor from South Brisbane is high on life today, that’s after spending the night at the Mansfield Tavern, nursing 18 schooners through roughly eight undercard matches, before watching a 43-year-old man get knocked out by a much younger opponent.

This comes after Brisbane PE teacher Jeff Horn took just 96 seconds to end the exceptional 25-year sporting career of Anthony Mundine.

The veteran boxer and former rugby league star, self-proclaimed as the best athlete Australia has ever produced – a claim that is very much arguable – has retired from sport.

This follows a career that saw Mundine play in three NRL grand finals, one of which saw him help win a premiership as the highest paid player in rugby league. Choc as played state of origin for NSW before the Blues sucked, and then decided to start a boxing career at age 25. A a boxing, he entered the ring professional for 50+ bouts, of which he won 48 and became the highest paid boxing star in Australia.

While sitting on the couch today in his shared two-bedder Moorooka townhouse, local used car salesman Craig Morrisette, also 43, says he always knew Anthony Mundine was a shit athlete.

“Haha! he got creamed” says Craig, before having to readjust his position on the couch after an awkward angle resulted in his double chin cutting off his air supply.

“He’s all talk!”
