Catholics and non-Catholics around the globe have come together after the passing of Pope Francis last night to agree that it’s time for a Filipino to take the papal throne.

Filipino’s, known for their love of fresh sneakers, R&B and karaoke, also have one of the largest catholic populations in the world.

“I really think that a warm yet cheeky Filipino man that loves drinking Red Horse Beer while playing a game of pool would make for a great pope” said Maria Del Vecchio (87), a devout Catholic Italian woman.

It’s still not known what critics of the idea have to say, as The Advocate found it really difficult to find anyone that had something bad to say about Filipinos.

Insiders in the Vatican said that it could have some hurdles, but they are fully prepared to build a brand new Karaoke Chapel if need be.

While many Filipinos that were asked about the idea humbly said they trust in the Papal Conclave to come to the right decision, they would be pleased to finally have someone more famous than Manny Pacquiao if one of their own were to become the Pope.

Throughout Africa, Asia and much of the developing Catholic world, support for a Filipino Pope is also strong, noting the symbolic power of choosing a pope from a region that shares similar struggles and spiritual resilience.

“Yeah it would be nice for it to be someone other than an old man from Europe or the bottom of South America” said Michel Gbokou (49) from Cameroon.

Many believe that a Filipino pope would not only bring Filipino swag to the Vatican, but also significantly increase likability of the Catholic church around the world.
