Minor Party Senator Cory Bernardi has this afternoon put on his favourite song ‘Arms Wide Open’ from the second studio album by American Christian rock band, Creed, in an attempt to quell his mood.
Cory sits back and laments the old days, where Australia for was for men’s men – and before we were made to care about other people’s feelings.
He wonders how this country became perverted enough to allow two grown men to kiss in public without being arrested, and let doctors have more of a say on woman’s parenthood than a priest.
But most of all, he wonders how a Liberal Government could possibly justify giving public schools more money than Catholic schools – or why our schools even need access to billions of more dollars as is.
“I’m the only one who says we shouldn’t be spending money like drunken socialists” he says to himself.
“I’m the only one who talks about the things that are dominating kitchen tables across Australia, like withdrawing from the UN or the abolition the human rights commission”
“And privatising the ABC”
“How did this country get so perverted?”
Cory slowly begins humming along to Scott Stapp’s euphoric chorus from the 2000 Christian rock ballad.
“With arms wide open
Under the sunlight
Welcome to this place
I’ll show you everything
With arms wide open
Now everything has changed”
