Gabba Test Just The Icing On The Cake Of 2025 Queensland Sporting Excellence

Pure euphoria has been emanating from the colosseum that sits in the heart of Brisbane's Woolloongabba over the past week, as the Australia test side began to twist the knives that have already been plunged into an embattled English cricket side.

Not only was the Queensland Capital perfectly hot and humid, but the lack of rain made for a terrific Brisbane test.

On top of this, the homegrown Queenslanders in the Australian side were very much the stars of the show.

Highlights include the hometown boy, and the Gabba's former hotspot operator, Marnus Labuschagne taking a screamer to end England innings at 334 on day two - after some fierce bowling from Rockhampton's Brendan Doggett.

Yesterday, Gold Coast's Michael Neser pulled off a glorious five-wicket haul for, taking out some crucial English batter, including Ben Stokes.

With a stadium packed full of jovial poms and Queenslanders, full to the brim on local mid-strength lager, the atmosphere was unlike anything the visitors had ever seen the freezing windswept shit hole they call home.

What may be lost on the Balmy Army, however, is that the past few days of salivating test cricket is merely the icing on the cake of what may just be Queensland's generational run.

The Gabba test follows the Brisbane Broncos mens and womens sides going all the way through to the NRL Premiership glory, and the Brisbane Lions bringing home the 2025 AFL flag.

Not to mention Ipswich's sprinting prodigy, Gout Gout, breaking world records on the track, and the Queensland Maroons snatching victory in heroic State Of Origin decider in the depths of Winter.

With Brisbane set to host the Summer Olympics in just seven years time, the millions watching this past weekend's fanfare from overseas would be smart to book tickets to the River City for 2032, because this kind of intoxicating Queensland sporting excellence can only be experienced first-hand.
