Futurists around the world are predicting that the inescapable 6-7 meme, popular among Gen Alpha and adults trying to connect with Gen Alpha, will soon lose all connection to its origin.
The 6-7 meme, originally an adlib on Philadelphia rapper Skrilla's song "Doot doot" which was used on NBA snippets on tiktok, was thrown into the minds of kids around the world after a video of a kid at a basketball game quoting the adlib went viral.
Futurists (experts in predicting the future), have concluded that we are not far away from losing all connection to the memes' convoluted origin story, much like its millennial father, the cool S.
The cool S, a graffiti styled "S" seen on school tables and notebooks around the globe for decades now, has an almost mystically unknown origin story.
"Historians have spent years attempting to unearth the origins of the cool S, we are nowhere closer now than we were 10 years ago to figuring it out" said professor David Smith (56).
"We are quite confident that the 6-7 meme has reached a level of virality that it will have a permanent presence in society for the foreseeable future, prompting kids in 20 years from now to snicker when hearing the numbers 6 and 7 together for unknown reasons"
Experts warn that, much like the Cool S, future generations may end up repeating the meme long after forgetting why it was ever funny in the first place.
