A tremendous amount of pride was felt at a local pub in Betoota’s Flight Path District as an average bloke excelled at whistling with his fingers.
Rod McGuire was enjoying the World Cup with his friends at local sports bar, The Betoota Pig, when the Socceroos scored the first goal.
As the pub erupted in cheers and raised glasses, Rod topped the moment off with a flawless whistle. Rod’s friends couldn’t help but look on with pride knowing that they were mates with the man that produced that impeccable sound.
Rod’s close friend, Craig Saunders showed his pride by giving Rod a good hard part on the back.
“I love when he does it, it’s like that one mate at school disco’s who could do the worm” Craig said with a big smile.
“Like that’s MY friend!”
The party trick whistle has been used by Rod in a variety of situations like a raunchy wedding speech, calling over his dog, Onion and sometimes the old cat call when one of his mates wears a new jacket.
Rod has always found it beneficial to him in certain circumstances.
“It’s definitely an alpha move, whenever I do it you can tell people think I’m top dog” Rod told our reporter.
“Some guy once shouted me a beer cause I nailed the comedic timing of the whistle during a 40th speech.”
When asked for the tip to perfecting the whistle with the fingers, Rod said “practice.”
“I know it sounds cliche but seriously I spent like a whole term in year 9 trying to get it right, drove my parents mad.”
