A faded haircut guide poster hanging on the wall of a local barber shop has somehow been confirmed to be older than the barber currently cutting hair beneath it.
The laminated poster, which displays a range of haircut styles such as the low fade, mid fade and high fade, has reportedly been hanging in the same position on the Betoota Flight Path District wall since at least the late-1990s.
Current barber Mehmet Kaya (23), who began working at the Turkish-owned shop last year, admits he has no real idea where the poster came from but says it appears to have always been there.
"I started here and it was already on the wall looking exactly like that" he explained while briefly pausing a skin fade.
The poster, which features a collection of male models sporting frosted tips and aggressively gelled hairstyles, appears to have been printed sometime during the peak era of curtains, hair gel and goatees.
Regular customers say the poster has quietly watched over thousands of identical haircuts.
"It's good to have options" said one man who has been requesting a number two on the sides since 2008.
Shop owner Ahmet Demir (51) believes the poster may have been put up by a previous barber sometime around the shop’s early years.
"I think maybe 1998, maybe 1999" he shrugged.
Despite its age, staff say the poster continues to serve an important role in the shop.
"Sometimes someone points to one of them" Mehmet explained.
The man with the spiky fringe on the poster is now believed to be pushing fifty.
"The frosted tips are coming back!"
