Excessive Taxes On Linen Shirts Proves To Be Number One Voter Concern In Wentworth By-Election

With the Wentworth by-election just days away, voters in the electorate have a unique opportunity to send a clear signal to the Federal government that inaction on linen shirt taxes will have major political ramifications.

Current polling indicates the Liberal Party could be facing its first electoral loss in the seat in 60 years – and lack of action on removing excessive taxes on luxury resortwear is the number one issue in the minds of voters.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has tried to deflect the Liberal Party’s responsibility stating that linen shirts are only really for extremely rich people to begin with, and that Wentworth voters should be happy with how much tax he’s already been able to help them avoid paying.

The Deputy prime minister Michael McCormack insisted that Australia should continue to sell linen shirts at the same price they’ve always been sold, and while that Eastern Suburbs residents are willing to try out alternative measures, it’s a shame that no such fabrics exist yet.

Former Liberal leader John Hewson has called on voters in his former electorate to use the election as a referendum on linen shirt taxes, and also kaftan and panama hat taxes, and to vote against the Liberals.
