The President of the United States has today received some rather unwanted, but very warranted praise.
Donald Trump has officially been recognised for his efforts to speed up the switch towards a fully electrified vehicle market.
The slightly weird and left field nod comes from the Betoota Business Council’s Annual Awards, who caused controversy by deciding to give the BYD EV Achievement Award to the POTUS.
Speaking to the Advocate about the award, the head of the Betoota Business Council (BBC) explained the decision.
“Mate, he’s done more than any tree hugger ever has or could for a clean future,” he laughed.
“All this shit in Iran, and now Yemen, is the greatest catalyst for change I’ve ever seen.”
“Just yesterday I had a chat with a mate of mine, a 64 year old common sense merchant who’s spent years calling EVs things I won’t say in public, who has popped in to test drive one of the things.”
“The fuel price rise that broke the camel’s back so to speak.”
“His leftie daughters had been lecturing him for years about keep cups and solar panels, but Big Don’s latest foray into the Middle East was what finally won him over.”
The award comes as Trump winds back the previous administration’s EV subsidies, in a virtue signal to distract from diesel prices that will do absolutely zero to make the American automotive industry even remotely competitive with new Chinese EV companies.
“Look, he validated EVs by letting that Saffa nerd into the White House with his spaceships, and now he’s causing even the staunchest of father in laws to go and consider buying an EV.”
“Really do have to take your hat off to him.”
