Reusable drink bottle brand ‘Nalgene’ originally started as a humble hiking helper. Today, the water bottle giant has morphed into the highest status symbol a reusable bottle can offer.
Recently, local man Jake Little, who once proudly sported the bottle has become a touch concerned that his bottle may have reached the end of its useful life span and is slowly becoming a health hazard.
Originally purchased as an alternative to those filthy ‘single use’ plastic water bottles, the now 7 year old bottle is showing some serious signs of decay.
A permanent layer of sediment has formed around the mouthpiece from a lack of regular cleaning but that’s not what’s got Mr Little worried. Little fears that his once beloved bottle is swimming in microplastics.
Speaking with the Advocate Little voiced his concerns.
“I guess you can’t really see microplastics but I think I can taste them.”
“It’s probably time I get a new bottle anyway, the nalgene logo has faded significantly and I’m worried people will think it’s just one of those dirty single use bottles you get from 7-Eleven when you’re left high and dry.”
The Advocate can report that Mr Little's bottle did look truly disgusting and was also radiating a pungent smell.
More to come.
