Southern Tasmania’s Dark Mofo Festival has been cancelled this year amid fears the coronavirus will not be contained to a satisfactory level before the show kicks off this winter.

Festival organisers broke the news this morning in Hobart where they told gathered reporters and concerned Melbourne yuppies who’ve destroyed the Tasmanian housing market that they decided to ‘air on the side of caution’ and start looking toward the 2021 show.

“We’ve been out-Dark Mofo’d by coronavirus,” said one organiser.

“It’s the most Dark Mofo thing ever, for a festival like ours to be cancelled by something that could’ve realistically been part of our festival. A global pandemic. Not literally, but an exhibit that either simulated of showed a world gripped by a pandemic such as the coronavirus,”

“Also, Melbourne yuppies out of Hobart NOW! Get out! Out!”

Dark Mofo’s current program would be moved to next year, although  Bon Iver’s will still go ahead on June 12 and 13.

More to come.
