Cricket Australia Move Swiftly To Reassure Public That They Are Still Fuckwits

Not even a full four months since they dragged our humble captain, Steve Smith, across the coals, Cricket Australia has once again terminated someone’s employment for something quite petty.

The lawyer representing a Cricket Australia employee allegedly sacked over a series of tweets criticising the Tasmanian Government and abortion rights in the state believes there is more to the case than workplace social media policy.

Angela Williamson is taking Cricket Australia to the Fair Work Commission after she was dismissed from her Hobart-based role for having an opinion on abortions, which Tasmanian women have to fly to the mainland to endure.

She had been campaigning on Twitter for abortion reform in Tasmania and was dismissed at the end of June.

In a statement, a Cricket Australia spokesperson said it would be “inappropriate” to comment on Ms Williamson’s circumstances, but said:

“Cricket Australia respects an individual’s right to their opinion. However, it has been a while since we did something that made us look like a bunch of fuckwits, so here we find ourselves.”

“Once again, for anyone who might’ve been doubting that we are a bunch of silver-spoon old toffs, the termination of Ms Williamson’s employment was for you. To remind you that were are, in fact, fuckwits.
