The palms are sweaty, knees weak and arms are heavy for a cunning couple this morning as they drive across town for a non-essential trip to their favourite bakery to pick up some fresh hot cross buns.

“I feel so naughty” whispered Sophia Milano to her boyfriend James Hinkley.

Sophia and James rose early this morning to avoid being seen by police as they drove from Betoota Heights all the way over to the French Quarter to pick up some freshly baked goods ahead of their Easter celebrations.

While driving, Sophia and James’ non-branded smart watches pinged, they’d both received a warning about their escalating heart rate.

“We’re like Bonny and Clyde” James said while turning to his lover and gripping her hand.

“Ok, if anyone asks, we live in the French Quarter and we are just going home” James cautioned, before second guessing himself and offering up another excuse.

“Or should we pretend we don’t know anything about the travel bans?”

“Cut it out James, we’ve got this”

“Just drive!”

The couple adorned their sunglasses, pulled down their hats, sunk a little lower into their seats and accelerated down Diamantina Boulevard towards the bakery.

More to come.
