Sitting on the couch at his Betoota Ponds home, Jimmy Stewart experienced a very brief, almost missable, pang of panic as he realised the date.
Doing some quick math, he counted about a week until Christmas. Using even quicker math, he counted the zero presents he’d got for his family.
“Phew” he said to himself, realising he still had the whole of next week before full blown panic would set in.
The 30-something-year-old occupational rehab provider is no stranger to self-made high stress situations, having never started any assignment or task until about 24-hours before its due.
When asked why he doesn’t just buy presents earlier like a normal person, Saville laughs like he’s just been asked why he hasn’t cured cancer yet.
“You just don’t get it”
“I do my best work in a state of panic. You know what you’re there for and you don’t care how much you have to pay or who you have to elbow out of the way to get it”
“Kinda like what happened back in covid with toilet paper”
“I wrestled a 24 pack of Quilton from a young mother, but in my state of panic I did not care”
Taking one last look at his calendar, Stewart relaxes back into his couch saying he’s still got ages and panic won’t set in until at least the 24th, at which point he’ll head into Westfield and get to work.
More to come.
