The firefighters battling blazes across the Eastern Seaboard have decided to finally call it a day.

As the nation prepares to take on New Zealand in what looms as a mouthwatering matchup with a strong Kiwi team, the call of ‘hoses down’ has rung out around the bush.

Despite the fact over a 100 bushfires are still burning, the nation’s firefighting heroes (many who are volunteers) who have been working around the clock to protect the homes and lives of many living in rural and regional Australia have decided to huddle around the TV and cheer the boys in Baggy Greens on today.

This decision to take the arvo off from doing the incredible work they have been doing for months comes after Prime Minister Scott Morrison told the nation the Aussies cricketers would give the country and those affected by fires something to cheer for.

“I can’t wait to see Davey Warner get out there a stroke a rapid 50 odd before holing out,” explained one local volunteer whose used all of his annual leave fighting the fires threatening homes in his area because he enjoys doing it so much, along with what ScoMo said yesterday.
