Whilst sitting aboard the plane poised to take her home, Amy Cameron had a heart stopping moment.
Not because she is scared of flying, but because she forgot to get what she came to Africa for.
After travelling all the way to a foreign continent and paying a copious amount of money to “volunteer” she forgot to get the money shot of herself surrounded by smiling African children.
“I can’t believe I forgot, I’m devastated, to be honest. Like obviously I will be able to tell people about it, but I can’t slap it all over Instagram and Facebook now. No one would care if I just posted a status.”
“Ugghhhhhhhh seriously, it’s frustrating, I guess I can still put it on my CV, but it’s turned into a pretty expensive holiday,” she said.
The 2nd year law student and the University of Queensland said she “jumped at the opportunity to give back” and volunteer “over in Africa” when she saw a flier on campus.
Although her parents were unsure about the fact that only 4 of the allocated 14 days in Africa were actually spent volunteering, they realised that it would “be great for my career,” said Amy.
