In news that should come not come as a surprise to anyone who has any knowledge of the NSW coastline, Pickles has gone and won her first World Surf League World Champion.
Known as Pickles, Molly Picklum from NSW’s Cenny Coast has written her name in history after taking home the title at the World Surf League Finals in Fiji.
The former North Shelly Boardrider road a wave of momentum (pardon the pun) through the heats to cap off a super consistent season on the tour.
It is the first time an Aussie has been world champion since Stephanie Gilmore won in 2022, with plenty of pundits predicting there are plenty more to come.
Speaking to The Advocate about the historic win, Cenny Coast local Toukley Bataeu explained it was a no brainer.
“Mate, a young former Cenny Coast Grommet called Pickles being very good at surfing,” said Toukley.
“You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to predict that being a recipe for success,” she said.
“And it will be for a long time to come.”
