In 2016 medicinal cannabis was legalised nationally and since then, the prevalence of prescriptions has soared.
After a five minute phone consultation with a doctor-like figure, Australians are able to secure a script for a potent chronic that would make even Nimbin locals paranoid.
Betoota Heights woman, Leslie Fitzgibbon, 29, has shared her experience with the Advocate.
“I’m naturally a pretty anxious person but I hammed up my symptoms for the doctor, I was pretty nervous he’d see right threw the act but it turns out he actually didn’t give a fuck.”
“I kinda got the vibe that he’d rubber stamped like six scripts already that day, he didn’t really give a shit about my wellbeing but he did give me the script so I can’t really complain.”
Ms Fitzgibbon, a long time cone demolisher has since moved into the classier domain of medical cannabis vape pen.
Unfortunately for Fitzgibbon, the medical cannabis did not completely alleviate her anxiety symptoms but rather ushered in a newer, stranger kind of anxiety.
“It’s hard to explain, I no longer have that kind of anxiety where I feel like I might have left the oven on but instead I feel like everything I’ve ever believed could be a lie, if that makes sense.”
As powerful prescriptions continue to fuel the commercialisation of cannabis across the nation Ms Fitzgibbon hopes people will see the good medical cannabis has to offer.
“It’s a magical plant, the fact that it can simultaneously cure and cause anxiety is pretty special,” she said.
More to come.
