A Chermside father is today resting on his laurels after pulling off a big brained move to end the week.
Everton Park (32) did so this morning when discussing some important matters with his young son over breakfast.
With time of the essence before heading off to work for the day, Park said he wanted to make sure he was aligned with his young fella Zillmere (5) on some important (and life-shaping) issues.
“Mate, his pop’s been needling me and getting into Zillmere’s ear about him going for his footy team,” laughed Everton.
“And I just had to nip that in the bud.”
“And a Friday night Suncorp game for the Phins against the Storm is literally the perfect opportunity to do that.”
Channeling some Art of The Deal level stuff, the local chippy explained that he managed to get his son aboard the Phin Freight Train after encouraging him to think about the philosophies of tonight’s match up.
“Mate, what happens when there’s a Storm and it rains a lot?” said Everton cleverly over a couple of weet bix.
“That’s right, you have to stay inside and it’s really boring.”
“So why would you cheer for that?”
“Whereas a Dolphin? Now that’s cool right?”
With his son going crazy about how cool Dolphins are and his better half and younger daughter laughing, Everton decided to seal the deal.
“So I think you are a Dolphins guy.”
With an enthusiastic agreement, Everton then drifted off into the distance thinking about a nice pie and a gold sitting next to his old mate while Hammer plucks a spiralling Katoa bomb out of the air to run under the posts as his son goes crazy in happiness instead of crying about his team losing.
More to come.
