Brisbane Broncos Considering Shock Last Minute Call Up For Electric Ipswich Rookie

With a week off until the preliminary finals, the Brisbane Broncos are doing everything they can to protect the momentum they’ve built at the back end of the season.

And it seems it’s time to tap into the vast reservoir of talent within the South-East Queensland grassroots.

Brisbane lock Pat Carrigan will cop a one match suspension, after taking an early guilty plea for a grade-two dangerous tackle in the 29-28 win over the Raiders in the qualifying final.

The preliminary final at Suncorp Stadium against either Canterbury or Penrith will be the match that decides whether the Broncos are going to the 2025 Grand Final.

It’s for this reason that Madge Maguire’s current reshuffle of the run-on side may be the most crucial decision he makes as a coach this year.

“Thankfully I’m coaching a Queensland side that is more or less full of Queenslanders” Madge told the Betoota Advocate.

“Which means I can do whatever the fuck I want and the media and playing group will fall in line behind my experimental creativity”

And experimental is the word, as Madge Maguire reaches out to contacts in the Ipswich rugby league comp to see if anyone has a line on Gout Gout.

The 17-year-old Australian sprinting superstar shot through to the semifinals of the men’s 200m at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo overnight, and the Broncos are now waiting to see if he’s got anything on Sunday-week.

“He’s not too young. Broncos put Karmichael on at that age” said Madge.

“Kids got wheels”

Gout made national headlines as a 14-year-old in 2022, when he shattered the Australian under-16s record the 100m with 10.57 seconds.

As a fully abled young man who was born and raised in Ipswich, the sprinter is automatically in the Broncos system, with office workers in the Red Hill HQ now rushing to get the paperwork in front of him.

“Not really up to me, but I reckon we could flick him a hundred grand or so. Move Shibasaki to lock and put the young fella on the wing for 80 minutes. No tackling, no getting tackled. Just catch and run, son”

“If it pays off people will call me a genius, and if it fails, they’ll tell me I was brave”

” I’m starting to understand the Queensland spirit here”
