Misty Eyed Bloke In Squat Rack Mustn’t Have Heard From Her In A Few Days

A local dumbbell shifter has been applauded today for showing a rare side of vulnerability.

Built like a brick shithouse, boasting arms that look like he’s wearing titanium floaties, Phil Cutler is the type of gym goer who walks around the gym with a heavy strut to flag that he’s not to be disturbed.

A 5-nights-a-week regular at the World Gym in West Betoota industrial estate, Phil is one of the last blokes in the Diamantina that still wears a stringlet, and deadlifts 200kgs in boxing shoes, and usually mumbles something about “preparing for a comp…”.

But tonight, in a rare showing of his emotional side, locals have reported Phil appears a little misty eyed in the squat rack.

Loading up two more 20kg plates onto his already stacked 140kg barbell, Phil appeared a little downtrodden, as he sighed into his hands.

“Yeah, I’m pretty sure I saw a tear,” mused one fellow gym goer, Mick Ennis, who goes to the gym once a week for a pre-Friday night bicep pump.

“He usually keeps to himself, but I kinda want to check in to see if he’s okay.”

Tonight’s display is reportedly only fuelling more rumours that Phil was in the early stages of a relationship with fellow local bodybuilder, Nataliya Kuznetovich, a particularly jacked female who took out gold in the recent Queensland Figure Championships.

“Yeah I heard they’d been going for shakes and strolls after the gym,” offered World Gym receptionist Jason Coleman, “But Nataliya’s left Betoota, she’s moved to the Gold Coast and hoping to turn pro.”

“I might offer him a free peanut butter custard bar from the vending machine, poor bloke looks like he’s hurting a bit.”
