In some exciting news for fans of popcorn television, the summer just got even better.

Off the back of three bumper seasons, The Summer I Turned Pretty (TSITP) is set for an Australian spin off.

Famous for its love triangle story line with adults playing teenagers, the hit show will be coming down under.

Rather than just call it The Summer I Turned Pretty: Australia, the show will be called The Summer I Stopped Being A Minga.

There is some consternation around whether it will be Minga or Minger, with producers set to battle it out in the marketing meetings.

The show will be set in Coffs Harbour, and will star a young lady who dreams of moving to Sydney, who gets caught up in a whirlwind romance with two brothers from Sawtell called Brayden and Kale.

The central female lead will be called Shylee, whose dad is the President of the local footy club and owns a Real Estate agency in town.

While she wasn’t one of the popular girls early in her high school days, it’s believed Shylee shakes the ‘minga’ tag in year 10, before attracting the attention of two of the footy boys.

One of the footy boys is heaps into drama and history and shit, which Shylee is initially attracted to – before realising that the other brother is actually more a gentle soul despite a hard jock exterior.

The show will of course centre around things like Little Fat Lamb fuelled birthday parties, drink driving with older school kids and vicious fights at the local public high school.

Filming is set to commence in early 2026 and with a release date later in the year.

More to come.
