A local Dad is getting on the front foot this week, as he prepares to clean up the devastation left behind after Jacaranda season.

Lucky to live on one of “the good streets in town”, Betoota father of three Malcom Baker is blessed with spending most of October admiring the gorgeous bloom of several Jacaranda trees, that line Lexus Street in Betoota Grove.

But now that the trees are beginning to wilt, and the gorgeous purple bells are quickly covering his driveway with a thick sludge that resembles Grimace vomit, Malcolm is determined to get his driveway spotless before December.

“Yeah I’m getting myself a good rake this year!” said Malcolm, as he turned on his trusty Windows XP desktop in “the study”, and began updating his Firefox web browser so he could browse Bunnings for the 5th time this week.

“Last year I broke about three Anko ones raking those leaves up, I won’t be doing that again.”

As a semi-retired father who’s got plenty of time on his hands, Malcom seems all too happy to spend several hours a week researching, debating and discussing garden equipment online.

“The internet is great, there’s so much shared knowledge on here.”

“I’ve joined several gardening communities on the Focebook, plus everyone is very happy to lend their opinions on that Whirlpool Forum website, have you been on it before?”

“So far the Cyclone 18T Trade Rake is winning, a strong 18 tooth head with a nice solid timber handle. Everyone online agrees, you need the right tool for the job!”
