In a shocking turn of events, a self-proclaimed guardian of the Bro Code has done the unspeakable to the boys by sliding into his mates ex’s DMs with an impressive array of fire emojis.

Steve, who has long boasted about his commitment to Bro Code values, threw caution to the wind when he found how his mate’s recent ex is now single.

The ex in question has recently been on the public ‘I’m now single’ campaign trail, uploading the casual rig shot here and there to let everyone know she’s now back on the market.

Ignoring the cardinal rule that forbids pursuing a friend’s ex, he couldn’t help himself but respond to her latest thirst trap with a couple of fire emojis.

Lily, the unsuspecting recipient of the fiery message, described her reaction as a mix of confusion and amusement.

“LOL, Steve keeps responding to all my stories with fire emojis” she laughed with her friends on a night out.

In Steve’s defense, he was on the tune to her first before they’d started dating and so technically he had ‘first dibs’ on her. He “knew deep down their relationship was never going to last.”

This thought process was believed to be enough for Steve to reassure himself that he wasn’t breaking any Bro Code.

As the fire emojis rage, one thing is clear: Steve’s actions have exposed a chink in the armour of the legendary Bro Code.

More to come.
