The Australian public has today dismissed the media attention surrounding Channel Nine reporter Danika Mason, with the entire nation deciding that 'she'll be right'.
Mason went viral yesterday, after a live cross to the Today show from the 2026 Winter Games that showed her slurring her speech after a bit of bubbly.
Mason, a beloved sideline reporter and one of the few Australia sports media personalities that hasn't made a career by kicking hungover footballers when they are down, has been given a pass from TV audiences for what looks like an old fashioned case of altitude sickness.
While rival networks and rugby league ambulance-chasers attempted to turn her hiccuping live cross into something bigger than it was, the general consensus from the public was 'fair play.
"Time difference is a killer in Italy, I bet" says local Betoota Ponds car detailer, Toby Buckley (45).
Betoota Heights hairdresser, Kelza Tiernan (55) echoes this sentiment.
"She's probably jet lagged and on the cold and flu tablets"
However, not everyone is making excuses. Some think that Mason deserves the right to get on the lash, after a fortnight in the freezing cold in some boring European mountain town.
"Who gives a fuck" says Deano Burbank (71, fitter and turner).
"I don't trust anyone who hasn't turned up to work half-cut before"
"Especially at her age. Fair dinkum what a beat up"
Mason has apologised on Thursday morning, saying she "shouldn't have had a drink" on an empty stomach before going on air, but many say she shouldn't have even had to do that.
"It was a bit of fun. Leave her be" says Deb Riolo (48, Flight Path District)
"I said the same thing when Karl did it after the Logies."
