The beleaguered Wests Tigers NRL club are once again in the news - and not for the right reasons.
The monthly eye-roll event at the merger club this time around, has been the bombshell sacking of four board members.
As well as disturbing allegations that the board members had overseen a new jersey that was slightly too orange (too Balmain favourable), a former board member and NSW premier has also been caught in the recent turmoil.
While it's yet to be officially confirmed by either side of the Tigers, sources close to the club have revealed that O'Farrell has apparently been booted as a result of an undisclosed bottle of wine.
In a throwback to his acrimonious exit from State Politics, O'Farell has seemingly been burnt once again by a delectable bottle of red.
"Yeah look, it's more a rugby league bottle of wine this time around, but it's still the principle," said the source, speaking on the condition of anonymity and gentle but firm ego-stroking behind closed doors.
"Grange is much more Waratahs and Liberal Party areas obviously, but it's still an egregious breach of trust."
When pressed on how involved Barry was in the selecting of the pastel of orange for the jersey, the source refused to comment.
"That was more of a total board decision, and as such the reason for the more widespread dismissal - nothing to do with the poker machine revenue and how that funding is dispersed and according to whom."
It's not known yet who will step into the shoes of the sacked board members, but it's believed they too will be sacked in roughly 12-18 months time.
More to come.
