After quitting the National Party in late 2025 over his frustration at not being elevated to leader for the 5th time, Barnaby Joyce has today learnt that the job is wide open once again.
This comes as David Littleproud MP announces that he is resigning as the leader of the federal Nationals Party - in what is yet another aftershock from the disastrous earthquake that was the Coalition's disastrous and bloody 2025 Federal Election defeat.
Littleproud has insisted that he will see out his term as the local member for his regional Queensland seat of Maranoa, but was resigning after four years as party leader because he no longer had the energy for the role.
"I'm buggered, mate," he said.
One man that does not seem to be too buggered, however, is the bloke that spent the last four years trying to claw that job off him.
In fact, Barnaby is so enthusiastic for party leadership that he's gone and found it elsewhere, within the eccentric far-right minor party known as One Nation.
It is unlikely the National Party will welcome him back, even though he'd have probably been a shoe-in for the job if he never left.
This is just another example of Barnaby Joyce's reckless decision making in the throes of passion and drunken stupor.
Except this time around, Barnaby Joyce hasn't pulled out too late, rather too soon.
And once again, he finds himself facing down the prospect having nobody on his side except for the female colleague he's jumped into bed with.
