Australian Federal Election About To Go Full Catholic

CLANCY OVERELL | Editor | CONTACT

As the Australian Federal Election reaches the last lap, recent events now mean that both major parties will be competing to out-Catholic each other for the final week.

Both leaders, having just spent the entire Easter long weekend in and out of different Churches, will be back at it tomorrow at te crack of dawn.

Prime Minister Albanese will once again remind voters that his mother raised him with three great faiths. (The Catholic Church, The Australian Labor Party and the South Sydney Rabbitohs).

Federal Opposition leader, Peter Dutton, will also point out that he was raised in somewhat of a Catholic household – with one Catholic parent, and one parent who was a member of the Church Of England.

However, he will also point to the fact that he went to Cardinal Pell’s funeral to show his respect. Despite literally everyone in his party telling him not to.

With Catholics representing the largest faith-based voting block in Australia, the entire week’s news cycle will be dedicated to how Catholic our politicians are.
