Australia Faces Awkward Reckoning As National Hero Stands Accused Of Doing Things We Kind Of Expected He’d Be Doing

The country is today being forced to take a good, long hard look at itself this week.

This comes after one of the country's most decorated heroes faces charges, after being arrested by police.

Former opening batsman David Warner will face court in May on mid range drink driving charges, a couple of years after he retired from national duty.

The reckoning has already forced widespread discussions around the nation, and will force the broader to community to ponder the manufactured identity of the knockabout larrikin.

"This isn't just a moment for David Warner, but a moment for the entire nation to sit back and consider how much things have changed over the years, and where our modern sense of morality sits with the mystique of the Aussie battler," said Ben Billson, a talking head who seems to have no real career background other than just appearing in media talking about things .

"I mean maybe you could argue that common decency has changed so much over the years, so who are we to cast judgement in an ever shifting paradigm of right and wrong," continued Ben in a weird way of saying things that don't really say anything.

"I think it's really best that we just take a minute and see where the accusations fit in to our agendas and prejudices, and then reframe how we view the behaviour."

"And at the end of the day, Dave fits into the AUSSIE LEGEND box."
